America’s athletes not only serve as role models, but also ambassadors for our country during international competition. These athletes deserve our support, good wishes and financial backing, because when they win, we all win.
Each American athlete training for the Summer or Winter Games spends thousands of dollars annually preparing for qualifying trial events. Depending on the sport, athletes’ costs can range from $12,000 to $120,000 for equipment, travel, coaching, nutrition, event fees, and transportation worldwide. These expenses, in addition to everyday living costs, are burdensome while most athletes can only make time for part-time jobs.
The America for Gold Fund, a non-profit organization, aims to provide financial assistance directly to these athletes through need-based grants. The organization is devoted solely to raising funds and awareness for America’s able-bodied athletes and athletes with disabilities training for both Summer and Winter Games.
It is the organization’s mission to underwrite the expenses of as many American athletes as possible, since support is needed years before medals are won.
